HR Policies FAQ
Which policies does my business need?
Depends on your size, sector and operations. All businesses need disciplinary, grievance, absence, equality and data protection. Additional policies depend on your specific circumstances — flexible working, social media, vehicles, expenses, drugs/alcohol, anti-bribery, whistleblowing. RADCaT assesses your needs.
Should policies be in the handbook or standalone?
Core employment policies belong in the handbook. Policies that change frequently, apply to specific groups, or are very detailed often work better as standalone documents referenced from the handbook. RADCaT advises on the best structure.
How often should policies be updated?
Annually at minimum. Also when legislation changes, after relevant tribunal decisions, when your operations change or after an incident reveals a policy gap. RADCaT provides annual review services.
Do policies need employee consent?
Non-contractual policies can generally be updated without individual consent — though communication and reasonable notice are important. Policies that form part of the employment contract require agreement to change. RADCaT advises on the distinction.
Can you draft sector-specific policies?
Yes. We write policies for specific sectors — construction CIS compliance, transport driver policies, care sector supervision, education safeguarding, hospitality tipping and charity volunteer policies.
Do you provide manager training on policies?
Yes. We brief your management team on new or updated policies — what they mean, how to apply them and what to escalate. Practical guidance, not just policy distribution.
How much do individual policies cost?
Priced per policy or as a complete suite. Annual review packages include all updates. Contact us for a quote based on your specific needs.
