Working at Height Fall Prevention & Compliance
Expert working at height risk assessments under the Work at Height Regulations 2005. We assess ladders, scaffolding, roofs, mezzanines, platforms and fragile surfaces — and develop safe systems of work that prevent falls and protect your workforce.
Height Safety Services
Assessment, safe systems of work and training for every elevated task.
Height Risk Assessments
Assessment of every working at height activity — ladders, scaffolding, MEWPS, roofs, mezzanines, vehicles, platforms, near openings and fragile surfaces. Task-specific safe systems of work.
Ladder Assessments
Evaluation of ladder use against the hierarchy of control. Assessment of ladder type, condition, placement, securing and whether alternative equipment should be specified.
Scaffold Inspections
Scaffold safety review — design adequacy, erection compliance, weekly inspection regimes, scaffold tag systems, ties, bracing, platforms, edge protection and access ladders.
Roof Safety
Assessment of roof work risks — fragile surfaces, edge protection, crawling boards, roof ladders, weather conditions and fall arrest systems. Safe systems of work for routine and non-routine roof access.
Fall Arrest Systems
Assessment of harness and fall arrest systems — anchor points, lanyard selection, energy absorbers, rescue plans and competent person requirements for users and inspectors.
Height Safety Training
On-site training covering hazard recognition, equipment inspection, safe access, harness use, rescue procedures and regulatory requirements. Training courses →

Activity Identification
We identify every task where people work at height — including tasks you may not have considered, such as changing light bulbs, accessing storage, cleaning gutters and vehicle loading.
Hierarchy of Control
For each activity: can the work be done from ground level? If not, can collective protection (scaffolding, guardrails) prevent falls? If not, what personal protection (harnesses) is needed?
Safe System of Work
Development of task-specific safe systems of work — equipment specification, pre-use checks, supervision requirements, weather restrictions and emergency rescue procedures.
Documentation
Written risk assessments and method statements for every height activity. Equipment inspection regimes, training records and permit-to-work systems where required.
Training & Review
On-site training for your team plus scheduled review visits. Assessments updated when tasks, equipment or regulations change.
Working at Height FAQ
What counts as working at height?
Any work where a person could fall a distance liable to cause personal injury. This includes work on ladders, scaffolding, roofs, mezzanines, vehicles, near openings, on fragile surfaces and even working at ground level near an excavation. There is no minimum height — a fall from a standing position onto a hard surface can cause serious injury.
Do I need a risk assessment for ladder use?
Yes. Ladders should only be used for low-risk, short-duration tasks where a safer alternative is not reasonably practicable. Every ladder use needs assessing — type, condition, angle, securing, surface, duration and the task being performed. RADCaT assesses your ladder use and recommends alternatives where appropriate.
How often should scaffold be inspected?
Scaffolding must be inspected before first use, at intervals not exceeding 7 days, after any event likely to affect stability (e.g. severe weather) and before use after any modification. Inspections must be by a competent person and recorded in writing.
Do you provide harness training?
Yes. We deliver practical harness and fall arrest training covering correct donning, adjustment, lanyard connection, anchor point selection, pre-use inspection and emergency rescue. Training is delivered on-site using your actual fall arrest systems.
What is the hierarchy of control for height work?
Avoid work at height if possible. If not: use collective protection (scaffolding, guardrails, netting) to prevent falls. If not: use personal protection (harnesses, fall arrest) to minimise consequences. Always plan for rescue. RADCaT applies this hierarchy to every assessment.
Do you cover construction sites?
Yes. We carry out working at height assessments for construction sites including scaffold review, edge protection, roof work, steel erection, formwork, tower crane access and temporary works at height. CDM-compliant documentation provided.
How much does a height assessment cost?
Based on the number of activities, building complexity and whether training is included. Contact us for a free discussion and no-obligation quote.
