First Aid Training That Saves Lives

A workplace risk assessment is a systematic examination of your work activities, premises and processes to identify what could cause harm to people — and whether you're doing enough to prevent it. Under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 (MHSWR), every employer must carry out a suitable and sufficient assessment of the risks to the health and safety of their employees and anyone else who may be affected by their work activities.

If you have five or more employees, the significant findings of your risk assessment must be recorded in writing. But regardless of your size, risk assessment is the foundation of every health and safety management system — without it, you're managing safety blind.

RADCaT's qualified health and safety consultants carry out thorough, practical workplace risk assessments for businesses of every size and sector across the UK. We don't produce generic templates — we visit your premises, walk your processes, talk to your team and produce site-specific, task-specific assessments that genuinely reflect your operations and give you a clear, prioritised action plan for improvement.

Whether you need a general workplace risk assessment for your office, a task-specific assessment for high-risk activities in a factory, a site-wide review for a multi-building campus, or a pre-project risk assessment for a construction site — RADCaT delivers expert, HSE-compliant assessments tailored to your industry and your operations.

Brain damage begins within 4 minutes of cardiac arrest. An ambulance takes an average of 8 minutes. Your trained first aider is the difference between life and death in those critical minutes. RADCaT's practical training gives your team the skills and confidence to act.

Our Process

How We Carry Out a Risk Assessment

1

Needs Assessment

We assess your first aid requirements — workplace hazards, employee numbers, shift patterns and location — to recommend the right level of training.

2

Course Booking

FAW (3 days), EFAW (1 day) or requalification (2 days) scheduled at your premises or our Wigan centre. Dates to suit your operational needs.

3

Practical Training

Hands-on learning — CPR on manikins, AED practice, dressing application, casualty scenarios and practical assessments. Not just slides and theory.

4

Assessment & Certification

Continuous assessment throughout the course. HSE-approved certificates issued valid for 3 years. Records for your first aid file.

5

Requalification Planning

We track your first aiders' certificate expiry dates and schedule requalification before they lapse — ensuring continuous first aid cover.

Common Questions

First Aid Training FAQ

What is the difference between FAW and EFAW?

FAW (First Aid at Work) is a 3-day comprehensive course. EFAW (Emergency First Aid at Work) is a 1-day course covering life-threatening emergencies only. Your first aid needs assessment determines which level you need — based on hazard level, employee numbers and proximity to emergency services.

How many first aiders do I need?

Depends on your workplace. Low-hazard offices: 1 EFAW per 50 employees. Higher-hazard workplaces: 1 FAW per 50 employees. HSE guidance provides detailed ratios. RADCaT conducts first aid needs assessments to determine your specific requirements.

How long are certificates valid?

3 years. Requalification must be completed before expiry. FAW requalification is a 2-day course. If the certificate expires, the full 3-day course must be repeated. We track expiry dates for retained clients.

Do you deliver on-site?

Yes. We deliver all first aid courses at your premises anywhere in the UK. On-site delivery means less travel time for staff and the ability to incorporate your specific workplace scenarios into practical exercises.

Is the course HSE approved?

Yes. Our first aid courses meet HSE requirements and are delivered by qualified trainers. Certificates are recognised by HSE, insurers and regulatory bodies.

Do you cover AED training?

Yes. AED (Automated External Defibrillator) training is included in both FAW and EFAW courses. Delegates practice using training AEDs and understand when and how to deploy them in cardiac emergencies.

How much does first aid training cost?

Per session or per delegate depending on course type. Group discounts for on-site delivery. Contact us for current pricing and available dates.
